Queen, Torch, Tow, myself, and Sparky by proxy performed a lot of good work today on the Z. We reinstalled may needed systems like the starter, radiator, exhaust, and air box, and hopes were high that we could get the motor started just before lunch.
However, when we powered up the car, we found that the battery was low. So, we put the car charger on and stopped for lunch.
After lunch, we returned to our toils and tried to start the motor. No joy. We did get starter action but not fire. After poking around, it became clear that we were not getting fuel flow. Tracing this trouble we think we found it:
Yes, I know it does not look like much, but the connector shown on the lower part of this image labeled E5 is our bane. After consultation with Sparky on the phone, three critical wires were identified to be in this harness that prevented fuel flow. As an aerospace engineer friend would happily to tell us, it is not an electrical problem, it is a wire mechanical problem. So, until we get this straightened out the starting of the motor must be scrubbed for the day and marked down as a mechanical wiring problem.
With that we finished the work on the day by changing brakes, suspension parts, installing the bumper, then calling it a night. As I indicated we did get a lot of work done today, so thank you to all for that. We still have a lot to do to get us ready, so we will be back at it again next weekend.
Until then, good night.
