Engine has Landed

Work has continued this week on several fronts.  Sparky has been busy with the various electrical systems.  A discrepancy between Service Manual semantics, and wiring on this motor has left Sparky with a bigger project.  This week a tagging party ensued, so that effort is quite clear.

Today the target was to land the motor.  Some prep work occurred within the engine bay.  Queen getting into it.

Final touches were completed on the motor.

Then we hoisted the motor, and engine mounts were fabricated.

We finished the day with the engine fitted and mounted.

Now one to the rest of the fixings.

Official Acceptance Note For Arse-Freeze

Hey, December Sonoma racers: Here's a re-send of the acceptance letter--some teams have reported that they didn't receive it. So, if you're getting this, you're in!

#24HoursofLemons     #BecauseRoadkill
Hi, Muddy:
Half-Life Racing (Seize-Z-ium and Ra-D-ium) have been officially ACCEPTED for Arse-Freeze-Apalooza at Sonoma Raceway, Sonoma CA on December 02 - December 03(Multiple entries? Log in to see what got in and what didn't.)
If you're racing, you must read this email completely!
1) FINISH YOUR INFO: Your team's current status is Ready to Race. If you're not showing "ready to race," log on here and fix what's missing. (In case you need it, here's a step-by-step guide to the reg process.)

2) PRINT A TECH SHEET and inspect your car against every line. Bring your signed, filled-out Tech Sheet to Tech at the track, and remember--not every rule is reflected on the Tech Sheet. You still need to study the full Lemons Rulebook.

3) READ THESE NOTICES:
EVENT SCHEDULE, CAMPING, DIRECTIONS, ETC: Look for these on this race's Event Page--when we learn something new, we'll update it there.

DRIVER-SAFETY GEAR: FULL SFI 38.1-RATED HEAD-AND-NECK UNITS ARE NOW MANDATORY! To see helmets, suits, head-and-neck units, and all the other required crap at sponsor-subsidized rates, visit Lemons' online store.

RACE #s: If the number you want isn't available on your Team Home Page's pulldown menu, somebody else already has it. Pick another one.

RULESThe Lemons Rulebook has been updated! Read the complete Rulebook (http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/prices-rules) now and re-check it often, refreshing your browser each time. Remember, it's your job to know this stuff!
DROPOUTSThere are no refunds or fee transfers! When you enter a race, you're buying the right to compete--not a guarantee that you'll get your own act together. If you drop out, can't finish your car, blow up, go broke, catch swine flu, step on your own wiener, or otherwise fail to avail yourself of your grid spot, you forfeit your entry fees. That's why they're called "entry" fees, not "I got to drive the whole race" fees.

4) COUGH UP YOUR ENTRY FEE: Your entry fees are due now--all fees must be paid in full by 10/21/2017. Miss that deadline, and your spot may be given to a team on the waitlist. (Late entry? Need to beg an extension? Drop Nick an email before the due date.) Z New Motor Was Test Fitted Today

Application for the Arse Freeze Race at Sonoma Raceway were due last night.  The two applications are in, so now we wait until Tuesday to hear our fate.

What that really means is that the 10 week clock starts.  The D is well on its way and we are in the punch list environment to get the car ready.  For the Z the new engine dominated the days work with the focus of today the test fitting of the motor, i.e hoist work.

So, in the motor went and it fits, well short of:

To make this fit, we will need an adapter for the engine mounts and cross member.  To add to the trouble, any of the systems like the starter, fuel lines, brake boost, power steering, and clutch are opposite from the current side they are on.

Well, we will get into many of these items in the next few weeks.
