Where in the World is Sparky (Opportunity for Get out of Jail Free)

Sparky,

We hear that you will be in China this week. Now I know it is a big place, but I think one of your offices is in Shanghi. We think you need to "take one for the team" and show up to the F1 race that will be there this weekend and get a Picture of you anywhere near the track in 24 Lemon stuff. If the Security Marshals will let you and can post it on the 24-hour Forum page they might give us a get out of jail card for any Lemon race transgressions.

So, please in the deepest of your heart can you swing by the track and snag a shot? Let me know if you need Lemon Memorabilia.

Muddy

PS
(I also know you could be going to India or Germany. The new F1 circuit near New Dehli or the Nurburgring in Germany would work as well.)

PPS - Starting in Suzhou at night.

There are a million of these on the road in Hong Kong, wonder if we can get a small block into a Toyota Crown?

And where I'm hanging out.

ZAE now has eyes

Since the next race is a true 24 hours race, I spent some time today getting the lights to work.  Rod and Muddy had already mounted them, but there were just wires hanging off the backs of each light when I went to work this morning.  In some ways not the most satisfying job.  I spent half a day adding some wires, relays, electrical tape and fuses (trying to light the car on fire once was enough for me, thank you very much).  The end result is you flip a switch and lights come on.  Not the most exciting end result of a project, but I'm getting much better at harness engineering and I like the results.

I probably over-engineered things a bit, but I'm happy with the results.  I integrated the lights into the car's harness (since the OEM stuff is long gone).  I added a relay for the headlights and another for the fog lights.  Each light is fused separately, so if we have any unfortunate incidents, there shouldn't be a way for that to take out any of the rest of the electrical system or the other lights.  We should be able to handle 30A of headlights and another 20A of fog lights without any worries.  The bulbs installed at the moment only draw 5A per light.

The only bad part is I didn't have all the parts I wanted.  I had ordered some connectors for the lights themselves, but they did not arrive in time, so I ended up hard wiring them in.  We'll have to cut the lights to either add connectors at a future date or remove them.

Also, I left all of the mounting jobs for Doug when he gets back.  I couldn't find the box of hardware, so I scrounged some bolts to hold everything in position, but nothing is actually fastened down.

Work and Theme for Reno

We did work on the car this weekend. It was a good work crew; Kirsten, Rod, Claus and Myself. How much was accomplished can be put into question, but we did look over the car and it seems to have come through another tussle that was Sears Pointless with little new trouble.

Kirsten and Rod worked on the back brakes. New rotors where put on the back. I need to get another set to fit the fronts. Someone didn't get the order right, so that was put off.
Claus and I worked on testing the engine compression. I was a little surprised that we are still good. (1-180, 2-185, 3-180, 4-180, 5-180, 6-180). We, well Claus then me, also exchanged the rear differential oil, motor oil and filter.
Then on to some fun. Rod also brought the new head lights and we where able to get them mounted. We now need to get them wired up so I turn it over to you Sparky for help. Once we can light them up we will see if we need even more.

Finally, over cake that Kirsten brought (Thank You) we talked about the new theme. It is still to be decided (meaning sanity is still possible) but the lead is to go with the Japanese Nuclear theme. I have looked and we can change the number to 239. Pu 239 to be exact. Also painting the car all lime green is in the offing. Finally as for the team name, I could petition the Lemon Judges to go with the name change, but to avoid that the first thoughts where:
  • Clunker Refuge Racing Power by Reactor # 3 (For the tamer in the crowd)
  • Clunker Refuge Racing Power by Fukushima
or a true name change
  • Nissan FukuZhima
Any thoughts?
