Second Car is now Accepted to Arse-Freeze

Nick has just sent me the second application notice.  So we know need both cars ready for December

LeMons Arse-Freeze-Apalooza Sonoma--YOU'RE IN!

24 Hours of Lemons   Today at 11:49 AM
To Muddy

Hi, Arse-Freeze applicant:

If you are receiving this message, your waitlisted team has been randomly selected to move up to the accepted pile. Huzzah!
To secure your spot, please submit your team payments ASAP to lock in your spot. There's no official deadline for waitlisted-team payments (figure one week MAX), but the longer you remain unpaid, the higher the chance I'll simply forget that you came from the waitlist and boot your team for being deadbeats. If that happens, you're outta luck.
If you aren't going to make it this time, please log on to your team page and click "withdraw team."
You will receive the official acceptance email in addition to this message. Please disregard the included payment deadline info--as mentioned above, pay ASAP to lock in your spot.

Let me know if you have any questions,
Nick

Work Weekend on Seize-Z-um

Lugnut, Torch, Torch's nephew and I set out to start the process of performing the engine exchange for Seize-Z-um.  I felt a successful day would be to pull the engine out of Rubby.  So, with a lot of the prep work completed in previous weeks, the four us got right to work disconnecting the various systems in Rubby.

And then just before lunch the motor and transmission was liberated from Rubby.

After lunch we then launched into work on pulling the motor from Whitey. Being the first time the motor has come out, by us, there were several things that made the extraction harder. One was the transmission mount has a lot harder to reach bolts. The bumper cover, like the Z31, is incredibly time consuming to remove. There were several frame items in the way that needed changed. And just when we though we were clear, we found that the engine's main wiring harness was bolted to the fire wall. After all that, we began the lift.

Then after having several hangups, (I think being tired at this point did not help) we finally cleared them and out came the motor.

So, after a long day both motors are free. In future work days, we can begin the work of fixing damage, making adjustments to the new motor, and then the installation.

All in all, a successful workday.

One Car in, Second car on waiting list

We have heard from Lemons HQ that only one of our cars has been accepted for Arse-Freeze in December 6-7 at Sonoma Raceway.  The second car has been placed on a waiting list.  Our experience when placed on the waiting list is that we are unlikely not to get the second car in.  That is too bad, but we will work to get both cars ready.

Below is the acceptance note from Lemons HQ:

Hi, Muddy:
Half-Life Racing (Seize-Z-um) has been officially ACCEPTED for Arse-Freeze-Apalooza at Sonoma Raceway, Sonoma CA on December 06 - December 07(Multiple entries? Log in to see what made it and what didn't.)
To participate, please read this email completely!
1) FINISH YOUR TEAM INFO: Your team's current status is Not Ready to Race. If you're not showing "ready to race," log on here and fix what's missing.
2) PRINT OUT THE LATEST SAFETY-INSPECTION CHECKLIST, then inspect each listed thing on your car. When everything's checked and correct, bring the signed, filled-out checklist to the track and present it at pre-race tech. (Remember, not every rule is reflected on the Checklist--you still need to study the full LeMons Rulebook.)
3) READ THE NOTICES BELOW:
EVENT SCHEDULE, CAMPING, DIRECTIONS, ETC: Look for these on this race's Event Page--when we learn something new, we'll update it there.

DRIVER-SAFETY GEAR: Event-sponsor Pyrotect offers all the required driver-safety gear in one box at a big LeMons-only discount. These subsidized rates are only available at LeMons' online store.

RACE #s: If the number you want isn't available on your Team Home Page's pulldown menu, somebody else already has it. Pick another one.

RULESThe LeMons Rulebook has been updated! Read the complete Rulebook(http://www.24hoursoflemons.com/prices-rules) now and re-check it often, refreshing your browser each time.Remember, it's your job to know this stuff!
DROPOUTSWhen you enter a race, you're buying the right to compete--not a guarantee from us that you'll get your own act together. If you drop out, can't finish your car, blow up, go broke, catch swine flu, step on your own wiener, or otherwise fail to avail yourself of your grid spot, you forfeit your entry fees. That's why they're called "entry" fees, not "I got to drive the whole race" fees.

4) COUGH UP YOUR ENTRY FEE: Your entry fees are due now--all fees must be paid in full by 10/11/2014. Miss that deadline, and your spot may be given to a team on the waitlist. (Need to beg an extension? Please drop us an email before the due date.) To check your current balance or make an online payment, see your Team Home Page athttps://registration.24hoursoflemons.com/members/races/registration/signup_id/11366.
