Final driver changes done

Lugnut is in the Z and Torch is in the D. The Z is now 2 laps ahead and running in 58th out of 175 cars.

The rain has stayed away and we are cleaning the pits getting ready for the checkers.

2 checkers!

The Z ended up 52 with 285 laps and the D 57th with 282. A great weekend with everything running smooth.

29 seconds

We have been haveing a very clean day. Both cars have just finished their second to last drivers changes and once done they are on the same lap 29 seconds apart. Muddy is in the Z and Queen is in the D with the Z just ahead. Next up well move Lugnut and Torch into the cars and finish the day.

Weather is overcast, but so far the rain is staying away.

First driver change

We made it through the first session, although the z needed a warning from the judges after a spin on the first lap out of the pits. Once the track warmed up however, no more incidents.

The two cars are 1 lap apart with the D in front. We have one more pit scheduled for the Z today as well so that is probably the order they will finish.

Day 2

We are starting out today with a lovely sunrise, but a forecast of rain to sweep in at 3:00. We are excited to at least be starting with sunshine

Muddy managed to burn his hand last night cooking dinner. We may be changing his nick name to lefty as he'll probably be driving one handed today. Other than that, the damage from the day was a repairable and the at are ready to roll.

We have breakfast burritos on the table and the mood is high for a good day.  Other than not letting muddy cook any more.

Day 1 done

Lovely evening.

The cars finished 1,2 at the end.  Everyone was all smiles.  Now the triage begins.

The z ran hot the full final stint. The fan was full of junk which has now all been removed and it is working.  The bigger problem is te air intake to the radiator collapsed somewhere during the day.  The welder is coming out and we'll have a new air box shortly.

The d is getting a new set of brakes then I think we'll call them good.

10 min to checker

After a wet start, the day has gotten much dryer and the cars have been running quick. We had 1 black flag for a spin, but other than that the drivers have behaved.

The Z came in hot one stint, with the temp gauge past at the top of the range. We had a leaking hose, and a fan that got stuck with debris. We had to cool it off and we sent muddy out with the instructions to watch the temp and bring it home.

Tow is out in the final stint in the D. The cheap brake bass we bought this morning are almost gone, so his stint was to watch the brakes. Given 10 minutes to go, both have done well.

Day 1

We were off to a wet and cold start this morning.

The cars are ready to go and we will try blueberry in the Z and Sparky in the D. With the wet track, the goal is just to keep them on the track and out of trouble.

The hats have been a great hit and look good in the window of the RV.

------

Now finished the first session, everything went smooth, for us.

The tow truck guys have been busy though, and there was a car that caught fire. After which the fire engine got stuck and needed a tow.

Second sessions we have Tow and Torch on the track as we move towards lunch.

Test laps

We haven't had rain in a while but the track is wet and slippery.  Muddy re-earned his moniker and tow is also having issues in the D.

The Z is running fast and everyone is coming out happy.

Passed tech

The drive was smooth, setup went too easy and we sat around waiting for tech to open.

Muddy has often mentions his aspiration is to be like Audi at the real lemans. While everyone is running around, they are calmly washing the cars.

Well while we were waiting for tech, muddy got his wish. The question was asked, "should we be doing anything". And the answer was no, we were actually done and prepped!  Go Muddy, a real Audi moment.

Tech was uneventful, except the hair and paint on the cars got a lot more attention than we normally get. Both cars ended up in class A with no laps.

The only issue we had was Lugnuts license has expired. We have not w sent him off to the DMV. Good thing it is Friday and they are open.

More in a bit. Lunch time the getting the cars on track for practice.
